Dr. Wang reviews respiratory rare diseases in the common rare disease menu, such as idiopathic pulmonary hypertension and pulmonary alveolar proteinosis. He also provides valuable suggestions for the website design and format.

Second-Class Professor at Guangzhou Medical University, Distinguished Researcher at the Guangzhou National Laboratory, PhD Supervisor, Distinguished Professor of the Pearl River Scholar Program of Guangdong Province, Director of the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Vascular Biology, and Lead Scientist of the Ministry of Education Changjiang Innovation Team.

 

He serves as Deputy Head of the Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Group of the Respiratory Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Vice Chair of the Right Heart Committee of the National Cardiovascular Center, and Academic Leader of the Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Group at the National Clinical Research Center for Respiratory Diseases. He is recognized as a Leading Medical Talent of Guangdong Province, Chief Scientist of the Yangcheng Scholar Program for municipal universities in Guangzhou, and an Outstanding Expert among High-Level Talents of Guangzhou.

He is Associate Editor of the U.S. journal Pulmonary Circulation, Senior Editor of the UK journal Experimental Physiology, Standing Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Respiratory Medicine, reviewer for multiple SCI journals, expert reviewer for the National Science and Technology Achievement Awards, and in 2024 served as an evaluation expert in the second round of academicianship review of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

He has been engaged in pulmonary vascular research for over 30 years. He received the Scientist Award of the Respiratory Section of the American Physiological Society in 2006, and the Outstanding Basic Research Scientist Award from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in both 2003 and 2008.


His major honors include one First-Class National Science and Technology Progress Award (2021), one Second-Class National Science and Technology Progress Award (2015), one First-Class Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (2014), and one Second-Class Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award (2020).

He has published more than 223 SCI-indexed research articles in leading journals such as The Lancet, Circulation, and Circulation Research, with a cumulative impact factor exceeding 2500 and more than 15,000 citations. He has also published over 150 Chinese research articles.
He has led 27 research projects at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, including 4 Key Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 National Key R&D Program projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, 1 Changjiang Innovation Team project of the Ministry of Education, and 6 General Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China.

He holds 21 authorized national patents, including 8 invention patents. He has supervised and trained 5 postdoctoral fellows, 29 PhD students, and 45 master’s students.
