🤷♂️What is Tourette Syndrome?💬

Tourette Syndrome (TS) was named after George Gilles De la Tourette, who first published nine patients with the symptoms of TS. TS is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by uncontrolled repetitive movements or sounds called motor tics or vocal tics, respectively. TS mainly affect children, and the symptoms of it often emerge between age 5 to 10. Generally, motor tics begin earlier than vocal tics. The symptoms of TS gradually diminish as people enter their late adolescence or earlier adulthood.
People with TS are often accompanied with the development of Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). These co-occurring conditions often cause more impairments to the individuals than the Tics.
It should also be noted that TS is not a degenerative disorder, meaning that the intelligence and life expectancy will not be influenced for TS patients.

It would be a fortune that TS often diminishes as children grow into adulthood, but its effects apart from Tics cannot be overlooked.
🧠 TS may also lead to anxiety, attention deficit, autism spectrum, and learning challenges.
Children with TS suffer not just physically but also emotionally and mentally.
Therefore, Caring, Supports, and Understanding are necetssary.
What we do?
What we do is to increase public awareness of Tourette Syndrome, support people with it, and advocate for research of it.
